Cryptocurrency first came into existence with the creation of Bitcoin in 2009. Bitcoin was invented by an unknown individual or group under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto, with the goal of providing an alternative to traditional financial systems. Bitcoin introduced the concept of blockchain, a decentralized ledger that records all transactions in an open and secure way.
Since then, many other cryptocurrencies have emerged, each with unique features. Ethereum, for example, was launched in 2015 and introduced the idea of smart contracts, which expanded the use of blockchain beyond simple payments. Today, thousands of cryptocurrencies exist, each serving different purposes, from creating decentralized financial systems to revolutionizing digital ownership.
